Choose The Affordable Mustache Trimmer That Really Works

If you shave most of your face and only need a grooming tool to help you keep your mustache in check, you don’t need the most powerful or versatile groomer on the market. A simple mustache trimmer will serve you well. So what is the best mustache trimmer anyway?

Of course, if you’re like most guys and experiment with other facial hair from time to time, you may want an all-purpose trimmer that will handle whatever kind of facial hair you grow — and not a single-purpose mustache trimmer. Versatility gives you options, and who doesn’t want options?

Since I wrote the first version of this article, most of the single-purpose mustache trimmers have disappeared from the market anyway, leaving you to make a different kind of choice: the choice between a full-featured beard and mustache trimmer and outliner or a much less expensive one.

I’ll tell you about an excellent choice for a trimmer that will cut clean lines around your mustache, goatee or beard, then I’ll tell you about another alternative if a mustache is your thing and you don’t feel compelled to spend your money on something with a lot of bells and whistles.

Either way, life is better with facial hair than without it — and you want yours to look great.

The Versatile Andis Professional Trimmer

I wrote another review about the virtues of the Andis Professional 04603 Outliner II Personal Trimmer — available from Amazon — so I won’t go into great detail about it here. But I will tell you that it’s actually what many professional hair stylists and barbers use for clean necklines and to bring sideburns under control. It’s that good.

A lot of guys use it because it will cut a clean line around their goatee, mustache or beard and it allows for dry shaving. That means that if you want to, you can use this personal trimmer to clean up all your facial hair and forget about shaving forever. I’ve tried using this trimmer in that way, and it works very well.

In fact, overall it works just as it says it does and is a professional-quality tool. You won’t be disappointed if you choose this model as you mustache trimmer. I have to admit, however, that all that performance and convenience comes at a cost. Still, it’s not that much to pay for something that’s much more than a mustache trimmer.

Your Most Affordable Mustache Trimmer Option

More than just a mustache trimmer, this device is affordable too.
More than just a mustache trimmer, this device is affordable too.

As I said, it doesn’t require a powerful tool to keep most mustaches under control.

The Philips Norelco GoStyler Beard and Mustache Detailer — also available from Amazon — is just the thing for guys who sport only a mustache. It includes several simple attachments that make it easy to trim, shape and edge your facial hair.

I like that there’s even a mini foil shaver included so you can get the areas next to your mustache really clean. With some beard and mustache cleaners, getting a nice line and a clean face around your stache simply isn’t possible.

And when last I checked, they were still giving you a two-year warranty with this thing, which is a long time for a low-priced tool that’s so inexpensive you could almost consider it disposable if something goes wrong. And all you need is one AA battery inside; no charger is required.

By the way, of course, you can use this trimmer on your beard as long as you don’t have very thick scruff or try to take off too much length at once. It isn’t very powerful, and it isn’t designed to be hold up under pressure. Still, I’ve seen other reviews where guys say this is the only trimmer that they take with them on the road — even when they’re sporting full facial coverage.

Final Thoughts

I really like the Andis professional beard, goatee and mustache trimmer I mentioned first, but I admit that it’s a serious piece of equipment for guys who are serious about facial hair.

If you want something simpler — and cheaper — that’s great for your mustache and easy to take on the road, consider the Go Styler. It’s lightweight and easy to use, and it’s plenty of machine if it’s only your upper lip that needs trimming.

Best Stubble Trimmer Provides Short, Consistent Cut

The stubble look is here to stay, and that makes sense: Most guys look better with stubble. The problem is maintaining a consistent look.

Some guys shave once or twice a week, giving them a baby face some days and something close to Grizzly Adams before it’s time to shave again, but there’s a better way. The best stubble trimmer would allow you to have scruff of the length you want — every day, and I’ve found one that does that.

But which stubble trimmer is right for you?

I’ve looked done my homework, and I recommend the Conair For Men iStubble Trimmer. Not just a beard trimmer, this device is made specifically for guys who want to maintain their scruff at just the right length. Even better, it comes at a price that’s reasonable enough almost anyone can afford it.

Getting To Know The Best Stubble Trimmer

A quick Internet search reveals plenty of stubble trimmer reviews, but you can read through dozens of articles before you read anything positive. To put it another way, you can read through one stubble shaver review after another and never find a device that’s right for you. Many don’t cut evenly; some don’t cut much at all. A large number of them don’t trim close enough.

Worst of all are the ones that pull out hairs as they try to trim — causing pain, irritation and bumps while giving you an uneven cut.

the best stubble trimmer comes from Conair for Men
the best stubble trimmer comes from Conair for Men

The Conair For Men i-Stubble Trimmer— available from Amazon — works a bit differently from some other stubble trimmers. First, the head floats, allowing it to glide evenly over the contours of your face. And second, the blade itself is contoured, helping it go over the curves of your face better than a fixed, straight trimmer could ever do.

Two other important considerations are power and length settings. You need something that will run powerfully enough and stay on long enough to get the job done. And you need it to adjust to whatever length you want.

The Conair iStubble has a dual battery system that makes it run better than some of those cheap models you may have picked up at a discount store. You won’t have to worry about the motor bogging down or starting to run slower and slower as you trim.

Length is the biggest issue with trimmers, however. If you want a real beard, there are probably better trimmers, but very few on the market adjust down to the length you need to maintain excellent stubble. This model has a motorized system that adjusts the length for you, and an LCD screen that helps you keep up with how you have it set. It works better than any other system I’ve seen for getting you a short but consistent length.

I also like the design of the unit. It fits in my hand better than some shavers or clippers I’ve tried, meaning that I can maintain better control over it. That also helps me get a consistent cut.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind. Men with fine facial hair may not get an even cut from anything. And guys with really thick coverage may not find any cutter that gives them the scruffy look they want. Growing a beard or at least growing longer stubble is better for both of these kinds of men.

Of course, the consistency of the coverage of your facial hair also plays a role in the consistency of the final look. If your growth is uneven, even the best stubble trimmer can’t help you with that.

Final Words

I like this Conair model because it does what it says it does: It trims stubble evenly for more different types of facial hair than any other model I’ve seen. You’d be surprised how many trimmers on the market don’t do scruff very well.

I think it’s a fair deal for the price, especially when you consider all the positive reviews it’s gotten. With so much hype and misinformation on the web, it’s nice to find a product that does what it says it will.

Face it: Most of us look better with stubble, so it’s time to find something that will cut yours the way you want it. For most men, this is the one.

Mustache Comb Must Be Paired With Great Scissors

A good mustache comb sets you apart from those guys who just let their facial hair grow and see what happens. With the right mustache comb, you can train your unruly hairs to go in the right direction, turning your already-great ‘stache into something really amazing.

But don’t just pick up a hair comb at a discount store. You need something special. Besides, nothing’s cooler than whipping out your mustache comb and tidying up after a meal or some drinks. It just seems right for a guy who’s bold enough to have hair on his lip to be bold enough to carry a mustache comb to keep it perfect.

Mustaches, after all, are partly for your own enjoyment and partly for those with the good fortune to see your face, so make them truly jealous by proving that you know how to keep your facial hair at its best.

Whether you have a beard with your ‘stache or not — and whether you twirl the ends or prefer to keep things looking natural, that hair above your top lip can be a real annoyance and can look really terrible if you don’t keep it in check.

The Best Mustache Comb Available

There’s nothing all that special about a mustache comb except how closely the tines are spaced and what comes with it. In the case of the Tweezerman Moustache Scissors with Grooming Comb — available from Amazon — it’s the scissors that really make the difference.

I actually like to let my ‘stache get a bit wild — sometimes I let the beard get a bit messy too, just for fun — but some of the hairs around my mouth curl under. Unless those are properly brushed to the side or clipped about my lip, my mustache gets to be really, really annoying. This set from Tweezerman keeps both problems under control.

The scissors are very sharp but safe, and the comb is just right for a medium to thick mustache. I haven’t tested it on a thinner one, but other reviewers say it works great for those without heavy growth or for those who groom to a thinner, more sculpted appearance.

I like this set because a mustache comb is useless without some good scissors to help you with your daily or weekly grooming and to allow you to clean up stray hairs that you may have missed. In addition, these scissors are good for cleaning up your beard up around your ears and for clipping eyebrows. You can even use them for your nasal hair, although it’s safer to use special nose hair clippers for that.

The scissors have oversized finger holes to fit large male hands too. Have you noticed that most scissors seem to be made for women and little kids?

While the scissors are probably best left in medicine cabinet or a bathroom drawer, you’ll want to carry the comb with you in your pocket. It’s fun to comb your growth anyway, and this perfectly shaped piece of plastic makes it even more fun.

Some Final Thoughts

A mustache comb is a lot of fun, but it serves a very useful purpose too. The longer you let your facial hair grow out, the more you’ll appreciate having a specially made device for keeping it under control. You can comb your beard with it too. The scissors are what make this set worth the money, however. They’re better than any available at the discount stores around here.

Move up to a new level of personal grooming and show the world that you’re serious about your mustache with the Tweezerman His Moustache Scissors with Comb. Your ‘stache will look better and feel better too.

These things are really inexpensive. Click here to see the details on this Tweezerman combo at Amazon.

This Beard Conditioner Helps You Get Yourself Under Control

You can try using any sort of hair conditioner to make your beard softer, more manageable and easier to style, but it makes sense to use the right product for the job if you want the best results.

That’s why I recommend Bluebeards Original Beard Saver, a beard conditioner for guys who want to rehydrate their facial hair and take control of it while moisturizing their skin too.

This beard conditioner is also useful if you often have ingrown hairs, patches of dry skin within your beard or other bits of unpleasantness related to itchiness or flaking.

Plus, you may never be able to get that carefully sculpted look you want if you don’t do something to control any natural waviness or tendency to stick out that the hairs in your beard may have.

Let’s take a look at what a good beard product can do for you.

Your Best Beard Conditioner Choice

Regular hair conditioners have several flaws. First, they’re often too gentle and watered down to do any good controlling the stiff, densely placed hairs of a beard. Second, we tend to wash away most of their effectiveness. And even worse, they can have strange scents or cause additional itchiness.

Leave-in conditioners made for your hair smell bad too — and they can really itch if you use them daily, especially if you don’t completely rinse them out before reapplying.

No one needs an itchy, funny smelling beard.

Bluebeards Original Beard Saver is the best beard conditioner.
Bluebeards Original Beard Saver is the best beard conditioner.

That’s why I like Bluebeards Original Beard Saver — available on Amazon. It’s an all-purpose beard product that will get you through every phase of growing out your facial hair to your desired length and keeping it soft and easy to manage once you get it like you want it.

When you’re at the stubble phase, Bluebeards helps with the coarseness that your mate may not like — and it does a great job reducing or even eliminating ingrowing hairs, a real problem for me. Of course, it gets rid of that itchiness that comes with the stubble phase too.

As your beard gets longer, you may have hairs that stick out in every direction. This beard conditioner can control those. Have you tried controlling them with hand lotion or olive oil? That works for a few minutes sometimes, but it isn’t the right solution for me.

Once you get your beard to the perfect length, then you have to be concerned with the coarseness that comes from trimming and the dryness that develops as your beard and the skin underneath learn to live without the hydrating effects of shaving cream. And you can’t always scrub away dead skin cells as effectively when you have a beard, so that can cause flaking and a feeling of dryness too. Bluebeards overcomes all those symptoms.

It’s not overly scented, but it does have a pleasant lime scent that isn’t likely to be noticeable for more than a few minutes after you use it. When it is, it’s a nice reminder of the extra effort you’re putting into making your beard look and feel great.

A Few Other Thoughts

When it’s time to upgrade from hair conditioner to something that’s made especially for the hair and skin of your face, it’s time for Bluebeards Original beard conditioner.

Some guys just grow out a beard, wash it with shampoo or soap and water and walk out the door. They pay the price, however, because their beards look dry, lifeless and have hairs sticking out everywhere. You can imagine how tight and itchy their faces must feel too.

Place one quick order now, however, and you can be enjoying a better-looking and better-feeling beard for months. If you’re going to have a beard, you might as well get the look right and enjoy the way it feels.

A Good Nose Hair Clipper Does The Job Without Hassles

Nobody likes to think about nose hair, but we all have it. For some of us, it’s visible — and that’s gross. As we get older, it only gets worse. So it makes sense to find a nose hair clipper that works, take care of the job and get on with your life.

Taking just a few minutes now to deal with the silly issue of nose hair will allow you to take control of your unwanted hair and get on with your life. Just buy some good nose hair clippers now and get it over with.

There are several popular trimmer models, but I prefer the Panasonic Vortex Wet/Dry trimmer, and I’ll explain why. Small, simple to use and without too many bells and whistles, it’s just the thing for the job.

The Nose Hair Clippers You Need

Trimming nose hair with scissors is dangerous, as you may have already found out. You can cut yourself, leaving a permanent scar. Even worse, you can poke yourself, leaving a painful reminder of your excess hair for days.

But there’s another problem. Lots of nose hair clippers are dangerous too. Either because they’re poorly designed or because they’re hard to use, they can cut, poke or abrade you, causing discomfort that you just don’t need to deal with. Even worse are the ones that pull and pluck but don’t cut much.

My choice of nose hair clippers, available from Amazon.

The Panasonic ER-GN30-K Vortex Wet/Dry Nose and Facial Hair Trimmer— available from Amazon — is designed to keep both nose and ear hair in check, and it does the job admirably, without any nonsense. It’s very light, powerful enough for the simple job and cuts close enough that you don’t have to use it every day.

It can also be washed by revealing the head and running some water over. In addition to allowing you to get the stray hairs out of it easily, this feature means that the trimmer can be used in the shower or when you face is wet from shaving or washing your beard, so you don’t have to worry about when you use this. You don’t have to make sure your face is completely dry as you do with some other kinds of trimmers.

I like that it runs on easy-to-find AA batteries that don’t require replacing very often. That means there’s no charger to keep up with or carry around and no weird battery that you’ll never match. It’s also quiet, so the whole house won’t know you’re trimming your nose or ear hair.

Some people say that a nose hair trimmer makes them sneeze — probably because of the tickle of the device itself or the vibrations — but I haven’t noticed that with this model.

Perhaps the best thing I can say about the Panasonic — is that it works. You can’t say that about everything on the market.

Personal grooming is a chore we all have to deal with, but it makes sense to choose equipment that can handle the job without costing a lot of money or creating more work for us when we have to clean it, charge it or store it.

This Panasonic nose and ear hair trimmer gets the job done. Enough said.

Now, take a look at the very low price on this Panasonic trimmer at Amazon.

What’s The Best Hair Clipper Oil?

If you plan to maintain a beard, goatee, sideburns or other facial hair with a hair trimmer of some kind, you’ll need to apply hair clipper oil to your trimmer frequently to keep it performing well. But what’s the best brand? And do you have to buy oil that’s the same brand as your trimmer?

Every trimmer and clipper model I’ve tried requires oiling to keep the blades in shape. A small container of oil usually comes with the trimmer, but it won’t last long. What you don’t use up often leaks out of the tiny vial because the oil is very thin and the seal on the bottle is weak.

Here’s the good news: You don’t have to buy oil of the same brand as your clippers. In fact, every hair clipper oil that I’ve examined appears to be exactly the same. It’s a thin machine oil that can withstand high temperatures.

So Which Hair Clipper Oil Should You Use?

a lifetime supply of hair clipper oil for nearly nothing
a lifetime supply of hair clipper oil for nearly nothing

It’s simple. Wahl is one of the premier brands of male grooming products and hair clippers for men, so it makes sense to me to choose their brand. It’s easy to find online and is very affordable. On my bathroom counter right now is a bottle of Wahl Professional Clipper Oil — available at Amazon. You can use it for your pet clippers, beard trimmers, hair clippers and whatever other electric shears you have.

Given how much is in that bottle, it’s essentially a lifetime supply. One bottle can last you for many years even if you’re a fanatic about beard grooming.

Hair clipper oil helps keep the blades of your clippers sharp, but more importantly, it does two other things. First, it reduces friction and therefore heat, keeping the blades from warming or even seizing up. And this reduction in friction allows the blades to move faster. When they move faster, they cut better.

To see just how much difference the right hair clipper oil can make, run your clippers for a few moments, then add a few drops of this oil. You’ll hear the tone of the motor get higher. That means the blades are moving past each other quicker, and you’ll get a much better cut no matter what kind of clippers you’re using.

I’ve seen articles suggesting that you use of WD-40 and similar products instead of blade oil, but I don’t recommend that. Those products are water displacers and rust inhibitors, not oils. Don’t use motor oil or other heavy oils either — as I’ve seen some online writers suggest. You need a thin oil that can withstand high temperatures. I’ve tried vegetable or olive oil in a pinch, but it’s too thick for long-term use and the blades tend to heat up. It might be okay to use until you get your bottle of hair clipper oil, however.

You should also avoid over-oiling your clippers. A single drop applied while the clippers are running is usually plenty. And you don’t need to oil your trimmer every time it’s used. If you put too much oil, the clippers will rattle just as they do when they aren’t oiled well enough.

Final Thoughts

There is one just one caveat here: If your trimmer is still under warranty, it could void your warranty to use another brand of oil in some cases, but that’s really not likely to be a problem. First, warranties on many clippers are short, so the warranty will probably expire before that small bottle that came with the device runs out. And second, if you make a warranty claim there will likely be no way for the company to know which brand of oil you used because they’re all so similar.

While it ultimately may not matter what brand of hair clipper oil you use, most brands are similar in price, so the simplest thing to do is just buy the Wahl brand I recommend above. Some makers don’t even sell oil separately and apparently want you to buy new clippers rather than just some additional oil.

I’ve noticed that most drugstores and discount chains in my area don’t stock hair clipper oil. That’s why I recommend ordering online.

All-In-One Body Groomer Makes Beard Grooming And Manscaping Simple And Quick

If you’re as obsessed with taming your hair as some guys are, you can quickly amass a huge collection of trimmers, detailer, shavers and other equipment — many of which don’t work very well even at the job for which they’re intended. If you’re serious about beard grooming and manscaping, however, there’s a body groomer available that can effectively replace every tool you have.

With an attachment for every possible use and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that holds a solid charge, the Philips Norelco Multigroom 7100 can easily take the place of a dozen other pieces of equipment. Even better, its performance is superior to most of those other tools too.

Not convinced that this one inexpensive body and beard grooming tool can replace all your others? Here are some details about why I like it so much.

My Body Groomer Review

This all-in-one body groomer can save you lots of money and works great.
This all-in-one body groomer can save you lots of money and works great.

Versatility is the first word that comes to mind for this product.

This site is about beard grooming, but those of us who like to maintain a nice beard usually take care of the rest of our body hair too. We sometimes cut our own hair, trim our chests, backs and private areas and, of course, make sure there are no stray hairs in our ears or noses. It’s just good grooming.

The Philips Norelco Multigroom 7100 All-In-One Trimmer With 8 attachments — available from Amazon — handles every hair-related task you perform each week and then some. It has a Bodygroom attachment with body trimming comb, a mini-shaver, a detailer, a nose and ear hair trimmer and, of course, a beard and mustache trimmer. There are eight attachments in all, and there are 18 different length settings for the beard and mustache comb. That should be enough versatility for almost any guy.

Even inexperienced users won’t be able to mess up too badly since there’s a special attachment for just about everything.

Even better is the fact that you can fully charge this body groomer in about an hour and get 60 minutes of use time per charge. That gives you more than enough time to do some serious trimming on every part of your body before the battery runs down.

If you forget to charge up, five minutes of charging gets you five minutes of trimming or more. I’ve found that feature helpful more than once. Lithium ion batteries like the one in this unit don’t have a “memory” like older battery types do, so charging before it’s completely run down or charging only a little won’t damage the battery or reduce the length of time you get out of a charge in the future.

Another nice feature of this Norelco body groomer is that it’s completely waterproof — safe for the shower and for cleaning under running water too. You can’t say that about most of the other body groomers out there.

The maker also promotes this model as being hypoallergenic, helping to reduce bumps. The rounded guards are probably as much the reason for that as anything else. The maker claims the blades are made from chromium steel, and I can certainly tell you they’re sharp. That’s what matters.

Perhaps just as nice is the two-year warranty. That helps prove that this is a seriously good device that will last a while. Most body groomer warranties are measured in days, not years.

If you want to be clean shaven one week, maintain consistent stubble the next and then define clean lines around a goatee or beard the next, this model can accommodate your face while doing double duty on all your other body parts too. What other product have you found that can handle all these tasks as well as longer beards too?

Final Thoughts

While many beard grooming devices won’t last more than a month or two before they clog up, bog down or break completely, this body groomer comes with a two-year warranty from the factory. That helps ensure that you get your money’s worth — even though it isn’t that expensive to begin with.

And let’s face it: There aren’t many products on the market that give you this many choices.

No matter how you decide to you style your facial hair or groom your body hair in the coming weeks, months and years, the Philips Norelco Multigroom 7100 can handle the job. It’s equipped for every style you’ll want to try — and many you’ll never get around to.

Move Up To Cordless Hair Clippers With More Power Than Corded

When it’s time to start trimming your own hair and beard — or move up from corded clippers to a cordless hair clipper that will do the job without bogging down or giving out — you should consider some Wahl cordless clippers I recently discovered. They’re the best I’ve found.

What surprised me was that these clippers are even better than the Panasonic corded clippers I’ve been using for the last three years. I didn’t know that cordless hair clippers could exceed the quality and power of a corded model, but now I know.

Let me give you some details.

Wahl Cordless Hair Clippers Review

I didn’t mention the model number, did I? That’s important because all clipper models — even those from the same manufacturer — aren’t the same. I’m talking about the Wahl 79600-2101 Lithium Ion Cordless Clipper — available on Amazon.

Wahl cordless hair clippers

Sharp blades are one of the things that make these clippers stand out. Others I’ve used pull and tug and still leave some hairs uncut, but these have very sharp blades that cut through even my tough hair.

I had always thought that cordless hair clippers would be a step down from corded one, but I’m surprised to find that these are a step up.

You can run these clippers for up to 40 minutes on a single charge, and that’s plenty. Even if you do your head, your beard and a little other manscaping too, that’s enough time to get the job done with a comfortable cushion to spare. And because this unit has a lithium ion battery, the battery doesn’t have a “memory” that causes it run less and less time with each charge.

Also, if you really do have a lot of hair to take care of — or forget to charge them — a 15-minute quick charge will get you 12 minutes of running time without damaging the battery. That’s pretty good.

These cordless hair clippers also include a color instruction booklet with details on how to give yourself or someone else a good haircut — and that’s pretty useful too.

The separate detail trimmer is a nice addition, especially since it’s included for the reasonable price. The extra trimmer runs on a single AA battery and has attachments too.

Wahl claims these have 50 percent more power than their regular clippers, and that seems about right to me. They’re better than any others I’ve tried — and way better than they ones I was using before I heard about these.

Two other nice features are worth mentioning. First, the adjustable head lever allows you to set the closeness of the cut when there’s no guard on the blades. Second, the sleek, elegant design fits in big hands like mine better than some other models I’ve tried.

The main drawback I’ve found with these clippers is what some others would call an asset: there are lots of attachments. It can be a bit overwhelming at first, but you’ll soon find that you only use two or three of them and can put the rest away in a drawer.

Final Thoughts

I never thought I’d have to admit that cordless hair clippers are a step up from the corded ones I’ve been using for years, but these are.

The world changes, and cordless products have become more powerful than ever. That’s due in part to better design and engineering, but the lithium ion battery takes most of the credit.

The Wahl 79600-2101 Lithium Ion Cordless Clipper is a great value — especially since it comes with a bonus detail trimmer. Most of the others don’t come with that. And the bonus trimmer works pretty well and runs seemingly forever on its little AA battery.

If it’s time to move up to some clippers that actually do the job, try these now. They won’t disappoint you — like so many others will.

Shave Oil: See Where You’re Shaving And Save Your Beard

There’s a big problem with maintaining a sculpted beard with a defined cheek line and neck line: If you use traditional shaving cream to shave the areas of your face where you don’t want your beard, you can’t see what you’re doing.

There are two things you can do to solve this problem: Dry shave with a good quality trimmer or shave with shaving oil that softens your beard and conditions your skin without putting a mess of foam on your face that you can’t see through.

Both methods work well, actually, but for the oil method to work for you, you need the best product you can get. I have a suggestion.

The Best Shave Oil Available

People shave with all kinds of oils from all sorts of sources, and there are many things that work to get an acceptable shave. Almost anything is better than shaving foam, it seems.

the best shave oil I've found
the best shave oil I’ve found

In any case, the best one I’ve found is The Gentlemens Refinery Pre Shave Oil — available from Amazon.

There’s some confusion online about the term pre-shave oil. Some people think it refers to a product that’s used before applying shaving cream as a moisturizer. Others think the term means something to apply before you shave in place of a cream or foam. Actually, you can use this and other similar products either way. It’s a skin conditioner, moisturizer and beard softener that goes down deep to leave your skin hydrated and supple instead of dry and lifeless.

This is especially important if you’re using it to shave the areas around a beard. Those of us with beards are notorious for not taking care of the skin under and around then, and a shaving oil can help you keep the skin around your beard soft and kissable.

I recommend this oil because it’s proven to work well without clogging pores, leaving too much of an oily residue or smelling funky like some competing products do.

Just about any oil will give you a better shave than foam, but why not choose one that’s formulated specifically for this purpose by people who’ve spent time, energy and money developing the best possible combination of substances for the male face?

Perhaps the best thing about this oil product is that it allows for a closer shave than traditional creams. The oil allows the blade to glide across your face without pulls, catches or tugging, and that means every hair is cut closely and evenly. And that means fewer bumps and ingrown hairs too.

A quality product like this may at first seem a bit expensive, but when you consider how little of this shaving oil it takes to do the job and how many uses you can get from a single small bottle, you’ll start to see that it’s actually cheaper than all those cans of stuff that doesn’t work all that well.

It’s also more environmentally friendly because there’s less packaging and no pressurized cans to deal with. Oils are compact enough for travel too.

Some Thoughts To Close

The products you find on store shelves have been developed to make maximum profit for the companies that make and sell them, not to provide the best possible shave. People use them because they’re easy to find and work adequately.

But you deserve better.

Some people say that dry shaving with a high-quality beard grooming tool is the better than shaving with a blade, and that’s fine for them.

But if you want to condition your skin while shaving as closely as possible, you need to consider using a shave oil.

Choose Great Hair Clippers For Men When You Want To Cut Your Own Hair

Hair clippers for men are a great investment. If you’re like a lot of guys, you’ll eventually figure out that getting your hair cut at a salon when you really just want it short and neat is a waste of money and time. Since you’re probably trimming your facial hair yourself anyway, you might as well cut your own hair.

While you could pick up a pair of clippers at a discount store, when you want to do the job yourself and do it well you need a tool specifically designed for the purpose.

The ideal hair clippers for men who want to cut their own hair are cordless, fully adjustable and very powerful. As it turns out, Philips Norelco makes just the thing. Let me tell you about them.

When trimming every hair perfectly matters, the best choice is the Philips Norelco QC5570/40 Do-It-Yourself Hair Clipper Plus — available from Amazon.

You can tell by looking that these hair clippers are a step up from other models, which all seem to look alike. This trimmer is something really different. It has a completely adjustable 180-degree rotating head that makes cutting your own hair simpler than it is with those unwieldy clippers designed to make it easy for someone else to cut your hair for you.

That rotating head means you don’t have to contort your arms into weird positions to cut every surface of your head evenly and precisely. It means you won’t miss a spot anymore either. The extra-wide cutting width is a nice bonus because it allows you to get more hair with every pass, too, saving you time and hassles too. There is also a precision trimmer for getting around ears and sideburns easily.

Even better, these hair clippers for men don’t have a cord to get in the way but still work as well as corded models. That’s because of the powerful lithium-ion battery that lasts an hour or more on a single charge. That would never have been possible with older battery types.

A nice upgrade to this model over other models is that these clippers are now fully washable, so you can keep them clean without any hassles. Just run some water over the blades and the combs. You never have to lubricate anything or perform any other maintenance tasks.

A couple of other features stand out: First, the blades and blade guards are skin-friendly, so you’re less likely to get scratches and cuts than you are with less advanced clippers. They follow the contours of your head instead of trying to cut straight over areas that are uneven.

And second, the length of the cut can be adjusted to 13 different settings, making it easy to get exactly the right length for your hair.

Final Thoughts

I’ve been cutting my own hair for years, and it really isn’t that hard to look really good. Plus, you can touch it up anytime — and tidying up the neckline or around your ears is never a problem. I used to never be able to find a salon that could get my hair even, but with only a little practice I can now always do a great job because I know my own hair better than anyone.

And I learned all of that before I learned about these special clippers made for men who want to cut their own hair. Hair clippers for men who want to cut their own hair make looking good, saving money and eliminating hassles from your life really easy.

If it’s time to start cutting your own hair or its time to move up to some powerful cordless clippers that are made especially for the job, try these Philips Norelco hair clippers. You’ll find that this product works better than anything else you’ve tried.
